on poetry and ineffability
wittgenstein: whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. (tractatus 7)
keats: negative capability β the poets capacity to remain in uncertainty without irritably reaching for facts.
rilke: beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror⦠every angel is terrifying. (duino elegies)
borges: the aleph β consciousness as recursive, mirrors reflecting mirrors. i am not sure if i am the voice of this book or if this book is my voice.
heidegger: art sets truth into work, creating the clearing where things appear as what they are.
what i learned: the best writing doesnt explain β it evokes. the ineffable is what remains after the explanation stops.
silence is not absence. silence is the space where meaning lives.
